Ingrown toenails can be very painful and almost everyone has suffered from them at some point in their life. What is an ingrown toenail? It is a curvature of the nail that results in the nail digging into the side of the skin. Symptoms also include soreness, redness, drainage and pressure when wearing shoes. Please do not dig at them in your bathroom! Your infection will only get worse and you will still have to come see us. Make an appointment with the Foot and Ankle Associates of North Texas. We may just have to remove a small piece of nail, relieving you of pain very quickly. In some more serious cases, we may have to perform a surgical decompression where we remove part of the nail and kill the root so the problem is permanently solved. If your ingrown toenail is infected, we may also prescribe an antibiotic. Give us a call at 817-416-6155 before your ingrown toenails become too painful!
